We are a great collection of things both tangible and ethereal. We are a body, we are a mind, we are a brain, and we are a gut. We emit photons like a very dim firefly, this can be observed. It can be observed, our going out like an incondecent light which has lost power when we die.

But we can also love. We can worry. We can have intuition and jeolousy. Despair and disappointment.

These are connected, one affects the other. Joy can relax the body, breathing and smiling can bring peace.

Our dreams can leave an imprint on us. Lucid dreams, for example, are an experience; but the dreaming itself, is also an expericence. People with near death experiences sometimes report light or seeing their loves loved out before them in a sort of dream state.

Time is felt in the mind. It is relative in more ways than one. The DMV is slow, a night with your loved one is over in an instant.

I know a man who claims to control his dreams. He talks of a hundred year dream. That is, he attempts to dream for a length of one hundred years in a single night. Is it so?

Could a state exist that is a thousand year dream? A million year dream? Eternity? Where the mind makes time stop? Is it possible?

Steven King wrote a short story called "The Jump" that explores this idea. A mind in a state that provides the owner with the experience of eternity in a single microsecond. In his story it's horrific, but could it also be wonderful?

Could heaven be real, as real as our minds; could hell, as well be as real as our fears?

Could religion have evolved to configure this final state?
